Suggestions and evidence
Why Meelu suggests instead of acting, and how to judge and act on a suggestion.
Meelu is a helpful tool, not a replacement for you. You have judgement and taste about your business that an AI does not. So Meelu's job is to look, point at what it found and explain why it matters. Deciding what to do is your job.
What a suggestion is
A suggestion is a proposed change that Meelu has prepared but not made. Every automated step in Meelu ends in one. It never ends in a silent change to your site or your content.
Each suggestion carries its evidence, so you can judge it quickly:
- the data it came from, such as Search Console clicks, a crawl result or a keyword's search volume
- the pages involved, with links to open them
- the reason, in a sentence or two
If a suggestion has no evidence you can check, treat it as a guess and ask Meelu where it came from.
An example
Say three of your pages all show up for the same search, and none of them ranks well. Meelu might suggest a pillar page: one main page on the topic that the others link to. The suggestion names the search, lists the three pages and says what each one adds.
Meelu does not rewrite, retitle, merge or redirect those pages on its own. Whether to refocus a page, merge two, or leave them alone is your call. Meelu only gives you what you need to make it.
What you can do with a suggestion
The exact buttons depend on the desk, but the choices are always the same:
| Choice | What it means |
|---|---|
| Approve or Keep | You agree. On some desks this saves the change in Meelu, ready for you to put on your site. |
| Edit | You agree with the idea but want it different. Change it yourself, or tell Meelu what to change in the task. |
| Turn down, Discard or No | You disagree. On some desks, Meelu keeps turned-down suggestions for a while so it can avoid offering the same one again. |
A few examples from the desks:
- On Site, Internal links, link suggestions have a Turn down button, and turned-down ones can be brought back with Restore.
- On the Content desk, when Meelu proposes edits to a draft, each change has Keep and Discard, and the top has Discard all and Keep all.
Each desk guide explains its own buttons.
Making the change on your site
Meelu never changes your website on its own. When you approve a suggestion, you make the change on your site yourself, in your website builder or CMS (the tool you use to edit your site). After you do, run a new crawl so Meelu sees the change and can clear suggestions you already acted on.
Tell Meelu why you said no
When you turn down a suggestion for a reason that will hold next time, such as "we never link to the careers page", save it as a note. Every future task reads it.
