Backlink opportunities

See the sites that link to your competitors but not to you, with spammy, paid and weak links left out.

A backlink is a link from another website to yours. Links from relevant, trusted sites help your pages rank. The easiest sites to win a link from are often those that already link to your competitors. The Backlink opportunities screen lists them.

Open it from the Backlink opportunities card on the SEO home screen.

Where the list comes from

Click Fetch backlinks next to a competitor to pull its backlinks, and yours the first time. Only the competitors you fetch count. A site is an opportunity when it links to at least one competitor and never links to you. Sites that link to the most competitors come first.

Not every backlink is worth chasing. Meelu leaves out links that:

  • Look spammy: a high spam score for the link or the linking site, a page with hundreds of outbound links, or a site on a bare IP address.
  • Look paid: links marked sponsored, pages about sponsored or guest posts, and links repeated across a whole site.
  • Are too weak to help: sites with a very low domain rank, dead pages, and redirects instead of real links.

You do the outreach

Meelu finds and ranks the sites. It does not contact anyone. You decide which sites to approach and what to offer them.

Why do they link to competitors? For the top sites, finds what they link to on your competitors' sites and why, so your request fits.

Tips

  • Run Why do they link to competitors? before you reach out. A request that matches why a site already links (a resource list, a review, a comparison) is far more likely to work.
  • Fetching a competitor's backlinks uses credits, so fetch the rivals you care about most. See Credits.
